1. Dividend Investing

The first side hustle we are going to mention is dividend investing. Did you know that the average dividend yield is 3-5%? The best part is that you don't have to do anything after researching which stock to invest in, which makes it the perfect side hustle! When you buy a company’s stock you become an owner, and dividends are a percentage of profits that a company pays out to it’s shareholders/owners/you! Pretty cool right? Just note that not all companies pay dividends, so be sure to check that out first – the best place to look into this is www.dividend.com

Now any capital you invest into any dividend paying company will be at the mercy of the stock market, however as long as you only invest a chunk of money that you won’t suddenly need to pay your bills, chances are over time your initial investment will grow as well.

Historically oil and gas have paid decent dividends, but I wouldn’t recommend dipping into this industry right now (as of the coronavirus pandemic 2020) if you’re a beginner. Instead you might want to consider a company like 3M who are a large conglomerate operating in multiple industries such as safety , transport and electronics, and healthcare and consumer.

There’s no limit to how much you can invest, you can start today with $1 – and seriously, don’t make the mistake of thinking you can’t afford to start investing (you can’t afford to not start investing) – anyone can invest, especially if you make some cut backs in your spending.

2. Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing is an awesome passive side hustle! How much you can make though, is very much down to how much online influence you have. Having said that you don’t need thousands of Instagram followers or YouTube subscribers to make a start (and if you don’t start, you’ll never make any money this way)! Almost every retailer has an affiliate programme, from Amazon, Booking.com, Fiverr and more.

Now let’s take a look at Amazon as an example: Amazon call their affiliate programme Amazon associates  – this is a great platform to start with. Your job here is to bring traffic to Amazon through customised url links.  Once you've signed up, you can generate these links  to share with your audience. When someone clicks on your link and purchases that item, you make a small percentage of that sale!

Check out our Amazon storefront to see what you can do - here you can add lists of products you use or recommend.

3. Amazon Merch

Another great passive hide hustle you can work on from home that most people have no idea exists is AMAZON MERCH or MERCH BY AMAZON – this is a print on demand service fulfilled by amazon.

In a nutshell, you come up with a design, upload it onto your Merch account, set a sale price and amazon does the rest. They then list your products on their website, print whatever gets sold and take care of the delivery.

There is no upfront cost, and you get paid whenever any of your t-shirts/hoodies get sold on the platform. I’d say your chances of getting sales are pretty decent considering amazon sees almost 200million visitors/month (more than the entire population of UK, France & Spain combined! – every month).

How much do you actually make from the sale?

Well - Amazon pay out royalties - this is calculated after deducting taxes and their own costs as mentioned before. That’s a pretty  good deal considering you can do this from your bedroom, and incur no upfront cost/risk. You don't have to pay for an office, advertising and don't have to get involved with the hassle of ensuring your products are delivered safely and on tie.

A caveat to Merch by Amazon is that it is Invite only, so you have to apply to be considered if you are suitable or not. However anyone can apply on the Amazon Merch website

What I’ve covered here is just an overview of Merch by Amazon, so if you’re interested and think you could make a decent side hustle out of this – definitely go and check out further details including requirements you need to meet to apply.

4. Start a Blog

Starting a blogs can open you up to a number of revenue streams including affiliate marketing, Google Adsense and you could sell anything from courses/ebooks/photo presets/digital prints or even physical products.

Starting your own website is super easy these days with sites like wix and square space, but the important point to remember is that even though it is a simple concept, it takes a lot of hard work and perseverance to build up the traffic to your site. However, if it is something you are passionate about, it is definitely worth doing!

5. Upload Stock Images

Are you a photographer who travels full time, visits all corners of the world? Or taking photographs is your hobby and something you like to do on the weekends? Stock images is the perfect side hustle for you!

Stock photography is so much more than idyllic beach photos. People who buy stock photography are looking for ALL SORTS of imagery. Have you ever noticed that when scrolling through your news app, all the photos say Getty Images on? Well that’s because Getty images is one of the largest Stock photography sites and all those images are taken from there!

Don't expect to get rich overnight from your stock photos though. It is a viable option, but it can take some time to upload your images, add in your keywords and actually get sales from them.

6. Shopify/Etsy

Having an online store these days is easy.

I always thought that to have a shop meant having loads of physical products and a store front to get customers but not anymore. I now have a couple of products that I sell on multiple online online stores. I don’t have a mammoth amount of products, in fact I only have 15 products. The two places I sell these are - my website, and Etsy.

So I actually set up my etsy account a month or so ago to see how much extra traffic I could generate to sell my presets. Turns out it didn’t make much of a difference to my preset sales numbers, but I did create some other digital products which have been selling fairly consistently.

Conclusion

So guys, what it really comes down to is – can you be bothered? Can you be bothered to do what most people cant?

What might feel like a pipedream now, that will only earn you a couple hundred extra £/$, will turn into much more if you commit to it and dedicate some time!

Half of the income streams that we’ve looked at today are passive, meaning you can be earning money as you sleep, for the rest of your life!
