Best Chinese Restaurants in London
London is full of good Chinese food, and if you love Chinese food as much as we do, this post is definitely for you. Read on to find out more about the 10 best Chinese restaurants in London.
Hands down our favourite Chinese restaurant in London. You won’t find dim sum here, but their dishes are superb. Kai have one Michelin Star and you’ll easily see why when you give them a visit. It’s expensive, but worth it for when you want to treat yourself. Try their wasabi prawns, black pepper beef and Chilean sea bass. Your meal wouldn’t be complete without having one of their desserts - we love Chocolate does grow on trees!
Where to find them: 65 S Audley Street | Mayfair London W1K 2QU
2. Royal China
Royal China is our go-to place for dim sum. They’ve got a great variety of delicious dim sum , are not over priced and very popular. Their busiest times are a Sunday afternoon, so avoid it if you can! They’ve got a few restaurants all over London, including Baker Street, Queensway, Canary riverside, Fulham and Harrow on the Hill.
Where to find them: 24 - 26 Baker Street | London W1U 3BZ
Hakkasan is a Michelin Star Chinese restaurant serving dim sum and authentic Chinese dishes. Their signature dishes include the Roasted silver cod with champagne and honey, and a crispy duck salad. Try their Taste of Hakkasan set menu! They’ve got two locations, in Hanway Place and Mayfair. We prefer Hanway Place though, but mainly because it’s down an alleyway and it feels like we are entering a secret hideout.
Where to find them: 8 Hanway Place | London W1T 1HD
Yauatcha is a contemporary dim sum tea house complete with the most delicate patisseries. It is also a Michelin Star restaurant, so you know you’ll be getting great food. Yauatcha and Hakkasan belong to the same owner, but to be honest we prefer Hakkasan (the service tends to be better). Some personal favourites include their scallop siu man and venison puffs.
Where to find them: 15-17 Broadwick Street | London W1F 0DL
5. Min Jiang
This is the Chinese restaurant to go to if you want great Chinese food with beautiful views over Hyde Park. It’s located on the 10th floor of the Royal Garden Hotel, so stunning views are guaranteed (go for lunch or an early dinner)! It’s a little pricey, so if you’re not fussed about enjoying the view, maybe head over to Royal China instead.
Where to find them: 2-24 Kensington High St, Kensington | London W8 4PT
6. Gold Mine
Gold Mine is known for its roast meats - their roast duck and char siu which you'll spot from afar hanging in their window. It’s a no frills restaurant so don’t expect too much (apart from great food)! You'll be squeezed in the dining room with everyone else and the waiters can be pretty rude but only because they’re so busy.
Where to find them: 102 Queensway | London W2 3RR
7. Four Seasons
Very similar to Gold Mine where you get great roast meats but underwhelming service. Their roast duck is thought to be the best in the world, so you’ve got to try it for yourself. They’re so popular they’ve got 2 restaurants really close to each other. People always compare the roast duck in Four Seasons to Gold Mine - they're both excellent though, so why not try both.
Where to find them: China Town 11 Gerrard St| London W1D 5PP and 84 Queensway | London W23RL
8. Bun House
Visit Bun House and you will feel like you have been transported back to a tea house in the 60s. Here you will find the most delicious and fluffiest buns including char siu BBQ pork and their Red Choc bun. Try their salted egg yolk buns - you won’t regret it! If you’re feeling extra adventurous, give their duck tongue fries a go.
Where to find them: Bun House | 23-24 Greek Street, W1D 4DZ
9. Duck and Rice
Where a British pub downstairs meets Chinese food upstairs. It’s the perfect place for after work drinks and food. You’ve got to get their duck and rice and find out what their No. 23 is. It’s a great restaurant to try, but their duck can’t beat what you’d get in Four Seasons.
Where to find them: 90 Berwick Street Soho | London W1F 0QB
10. Pearl Liang
A great spot for dim sum and lobster noodles! In terms of ambience, it’s in between Royal China (which can get quite noisy) and Min Jiang (fine dining). Service is good here and it is definitely worth trying. They even serve dim sum into the evening (although only a limited selection compared to their day menu).
Where to find them: 8 Sheldon Square | London W2 6EZ
